OUTDOORS & NATURE - WHAT MIGHT THE FUTURE HOLD? WORKSHOP SUMMARY 14 JUNE 2021

Thanks to the 16 committed folk who joined the second working group on Outdoors and Nature on Monday night.  Lots of fascinating chat and we homed in on some good solid actions to test with everyone in the draft Community Action Plan shortly.

You can catch a recording of the workshop on YouTube above.  As you'll see, we had a fascinating discussion - the time fairly whizzed by!

RANGERS, PATHS AND COMMUNITY WOODLAND

Most of the evening focussed on fleshing out more detail for potential action areas covering Outdoors and Nature, in particular:
  • Permanent community rangers
  • Path network improvements - a complicated area but we broke it down into a possible sequence of actions
  • A new community-owned woodland: an exciting prospect but a big commitment!

As with each of these working groups, there were lots of links to other topics and working groups too - like creating jobs and community opportunities.

If you don't have time to watch the video, the diagram below is a summary of the discussion (click here for a sharper version):

We'll be working up what came out of the workshop, linking it with what comes out of the other working groups, and sharing the results over the coming weeks as a first-cut draft of the Community Action Plan itself.
